Bodhi Graha is a fifty year old, 3000 sq.ft two storied traditional house located in a calm and leafy surrounding with no clue of the busy town nearby, Chelari, Malappuram. The clients demanded a renovation with a visual treat by maintaining the traditional quality. Taking this into consideration, the design evolved by providing traditional sloping roof for the main entry and it ensured a welcoming feel which will leads us to the living. The dining room has a separate entry from the east. It looks out to a hangout space with a chempaka yard adjacent to it. The long verandah ends to a water Lily pond which gives us a unique visual treat. All the common areas are well lit and ventilated. The living space of the existing house was extended in order to cater the modern needs of the family. One of the bedrooms on the first floor has an extended balcony which captures the serene effect of nature within it. The desire to connect with nature is reflected in the design. The perception of minimalistic landscape elements helped in achieving a simple yet elegant view.
